About CPAS
Independent by remit. Exact by habit.
CPAS Ltd was established to support UK Trading Standards with screening checks and fault investigations, while providing endurance and reliability testing, fault investigations and due diligence services for industry.
CPAS is a private limited company with Public Liability Insurance of £10 million and Professional Indemnity Insurance of £5 million, and is VAT registered. Our customers include UK Trading Standards, household names in the retail sector, and importers and manufacturers. We also provide consultancy to help businesses bring products to market.
We’re familiar with a wide range of British Standards covering General Product Safety, Electrical Equipment, Radio Equipment, the Supply of Machinery and Toy Regulations. Our services include fault investigations, hazard identification, and specialist testing such as overcharge and capacity testing of lithium-ion cells, batteries and systems.
Between us we hold over 70 years of combined testing experience across electrical, electronic, software, fault-finding, and reliability and durability testing — including electrical, pneumatic and mechanical automated test systems. We also act as expert witnesses in criminal and coroner’s court cases, where our director’s extensive knowledge has helped provide valuable insight into potential causes of faults and fatalities.
We’re committed to doing the right thing, which is why we take the time to test thoroughly and be confident in our findings.
Our three-stage review process helps ensure every report is of a high standard. Equipment used to test samples is calibrated to National Standards, and we work to BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
Sustainability
Lower impact, without lowering the standard.
We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and making sustainability a practical part of how we work every day. As a predominantly digital business, we minimise paper by handling records, reports and communication electronically wherever possible — reducing waste and improving efficiency.
Our laboratory is powered solely by electricity generated from on-site solar panels, supporting a lower-impact way of working while maintaining the high standards our testing and investigation work demands.
We also take a responsible approach to waste at the end of a product’s life, working with a specialist third-party WEEE disposal company so that electrical and electronic items are processed in line with environmental requirements, with as much material as possible recovered and recycled.
